In addition to a PGP keysigning party/event, there is also an effort to get CAcert certificates "assured". Generating a certificate is actually somewhat easier than a pgp key -- you simply go to their website, fill out a form, and wait for an e-mail response.
I don't want to steal too much of Phil's fire for his presentation, so I won't go into too many details, but if you want to participate in the "key signing" party at this month's SGVLUG presentation, you will need to create a key before you arrive (well, I suppose you could create one during the meeting, but passing around the "fingerprint" might be a bit cumbersome -- we don't have any printers...)
